The Alavese Plains are in the north-eastern section of Álava, at the border with Gipuzkoa and Navarre. They are formed geographically, along the Vitoria basin. They stretch north to the Aratz-Altzania-Aizkorri, Urkila and Elgea mountain ranges and south to Entzia, Iturrieta and the mountains of Vitoria. The Zadorra river begins in Entzia and runs east to west, making it an axis of the region feeding the Ganboa reservoir.

Getting Here

The Alavese Plains are extraordinarily well connected. The N-I highway and Madrid-Irun train line pass through them. They are 25 km from Vitoria-Gasteiz, 90 from Bilbao, 70 from Pamplona, 85 from Donostia-San Sebastian and 65 from Logroño.

All the information on the artistic and historical heritage of the towns on the Alavese Plains is available at the Regional Tourism Office in Salvatierra-Agurain.
