GAZEO AND ALAIZA
First, visit the paintings at Saint Martin of Tours Church in Gazeo, a masterpiece whose expressive polychrome is unparalleled in the Basque Country. The next stop is at one of the most enigmatic and surprising pieces of Middle Ages: Our Lady of Assumption Church in Alaitza. Inside the church you’ll find mysterious depictions of war created with ochre silhouettes whose meaning has yet to be understood.
Parking is available near the churches, but do mind the signage indicating the nearby private homes and garage exits, especially in Gazeo.
